DAKAR 2013 Live Your Own Rally Adventure



Are you fascinated by cars? Are you a fan of rallies such as the big rally from Paris to Dakar? Then you will love this tour. As you know the Rally Paris - Dakar was abolished for political and geographical reasons, and for 4 years it has been already held in South America.
This time the Dakar Rally will begin the adventure in Peru.
We offer you the opportunity to be directly there. Furthermore, we support you in achieving your own Rally Adventure. You will ride and can drive a 4WD specially equipped vehicle from Lima along the Pacific coast accompanying the Rally.





This 4,200k journey features the most beautiful and interesting places along the Peru, Chile and Bolivia territories. In Peru we drive through the coastal desert following the Dakar tracks and visit the highlights of Paracas, Nazca, Arequipa, Puno, Cusco and Machu Picchu sanctuary in the Lands of the Inkas. In Chile the ride goes through the endless Atacama desert and climbs up to the highlands to pass an Andean summit to get into the Bolivian lands with breathtaking volcanoes, beautiful Andean lagoons, the impressive Salar de Uyuni and Lake Titikaka

DAY 1  Thrusday 3rd January
INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT TO LIMA
Reception at Lima's airport and transfer to the selected hotel by our partners in Peru.
 
                           

 
DAY 2 Friday 4th January LIMA
Breakfast Buffet. In the morning, visit of the main attractions of the city: Modern Miraflores, Huaca Pucllana, residential San Isidro, colonial olives plantation, republican Parque de la Exposición, Plaza Grau, Plaza San Martin, Peruvian Pisco Sour tasting at Maury’s bar where it was created in the 1930’s, Plaza de Armas, Presidential Palace, City Hall, Archbishop’s Palace, San Francisco catacumbs, Parque La Muralla. Lunch at the classic Cordano’s. Afternoon visit the National Museum of Folk Art and Archaeology housing the largest collection of ceramic pieces, textiles, jewelry and lytic art of pre-Columbian cultures.
In the evening welcome buffet dinner including live traditional music and dances show.

DAY 3 Saturday 5th January
I. Stage: LIMA – PISCO – PARACAS

Breakfast at the Hotel. Today you will see the start of the 5th DAKAR RALLY South American Edition 2013.
After the last participating vehicle departure we start Our Own Rally Adventure on our 4WD vehicles towards Pisco – Paracas (243km) where we will spend the night in a local lodge. (B) (D)

 

DAY 4 Sunday  6th January
II Stage:  PARACAS - DESERT
Breakfast at hotel. Today the Rally route goes through the Pisco region surrounding mountains making a loop that starts/ends near Pisco. Before the beginning, we move to a cozy corner from where we can watch the Rally and enjoy a nice picnic lunch. In the afternoon we enter the desert with our 4WD vehicles before the road gets closed and drive some 100k before it gets dark to find a good spot to stay in camp next to the Pacific Ocean and from where we will watch the Rally pass on next morning. DAY 5 Monday 7th January
III. Stage: DESERT - NAZCA – PUERTO INKA
Breakfast in camp. The race goes on and the Dakar cars will reach Nazca. After the last car pass we will continue our way through the desert following the Dakar tracks to Nazca (159k), where we will have a rest stop and lunch break. In the afternoon we continue our way further south to Puerto Inka (159k) (in Arequipa territory). On the way will stop a while to visit the unique and impressive Sacaco fossilized whales deposits. Overnight in Puerto Inka campsite with bathroom facilities. Dinner in a local restaurant. (B) (L) (D)

 
 
DAY 6 Tuesday 8th January

IV. Stage: PUERTO INKA – AREQUIPA - MOKEWA
Breakfast. Today the rally goes south and the destination is the city of Arequipa. After the last Dakar pass we go on our 4WD vehicle from Puerto Inka to Mokewa (546k), rest stop and lunch break on the way.
The trip goes over the famous Panamericana road that was built over the ancient pre-hispanic road along the coastal desert. Late evening arrival and overnight in a local lodge. (B) (D)


 
 
DAY 7 Wednesday 9th January
V. Stage: MOKEWA – ARICA
Breakfast. The rally route continues to Arica, Chile. After the last Dakar car pass we move to the border Peru – Chile to do the migration formalities and then we continue to Arica (220k) the most important city of the north of Chile and main port on the Pacific Ocean. Overnight in a local lodge in Arica.
If you wish (and still have strenght), you can visit the casino in Arica, one of the most important casinos in South America. (B) (D)


 
 
DAY 8 Thursday 10th January
VI. Stage: ARICA - CALAMA
After breakfast, we see the start of the rally in Chilean territory. This is the last time we see the Dakars, from now on we continue the overland adventure on our own 4WD vehicles.  Today you will discover the endless extension of the Atacama desert, the driest on Earth, covering the regions of Arica - Parinacota, Tarapacá and Antofagasta. Today´s drive is 596k, be ready for a long journey. Overnight in a local lodge or camp (B) (D)


 
 
DAY 9 Friday 11th January
CALAMA – SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA
This and the next are easy days, to rest, taking easy and get acclimatization to altitude. After late breakfast we move 105k from Calama (2,260m) to San Pedro de Atacama (4,320m). Rest stop at the hotel and lunch break. Afternoon visit to the church in the village and the Archaeological Museum Padre Le Peige. Overnight in the hotel. (B) (L)




 

 
DAY 10 Saturday 12th January
SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA–SALT LAKE AND LOS FLAMINGOS NAT´L PARK
In the morning after breakfast visit to the Atacama Salt Lake and Laguna Chaxas. Then visit the Quebrada de Jere. Lunch at San Pedro de Atacama. Afternoon visit the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountain) and the Valley of the Moon. You will experience an spectacular sunset in this bizarre, almost lunar valley, with its bright colors. Overnight in the hotel. (B) (L)

 
 
DAY 11 Sunday 13th January  
RIDE TO BOLIVIA: LAGUNA VERDE – LAGUNA COLORADA
After breakfast we drive up to Hito Cajon, border village between Bolivia and Chile. On this journey we reach the most amazing landscapes created by nature on planet Earth and the highest point of the adventure on 4WD vehices at Laguna Verde (5930 m)  and the magnificent views of Licanbur and Juriques volcanos. The emerald green lagoon has a high concentration of lead, sulphur and calcium carbonates. The road continues to Laguna Blanca and the geysers Sol de Mañana, here we will see volcanic mud pools and fumaroles. Nearby, you can swim in the hot springs, this swim is a must and will make you feel the miracle of total recovery, strength renewal and relief of the altitude effects on your body.  After this we continue to the reddish Laguna Colorada, an unforgettable spectacle. On the way we will find a good spot for nice picnic lunch. Overnight stay in an Andean mountain shelter near Laguna Colorada (4200 msnm). Dinner. (B) (L) (D)
 
 

 
DAY 12 Monday 14th January
LAGUNA COLORADA - SALAR DE UYUNI
On this day, we will visit the Uyuni Salt Lake. With seemingly endless extension of more than 12,000 km2 Uyuni is the largest salt plains in the world. Here we drive with no speed limit through the salt flats, on the almost not visible highway until we reach Isla Pescado, an oasis with giant cacti and unusual flowers. Continue via Colchani to Uyuni city, on the way we will visit a salt factory. Overnight in a local lodge. (B)

 

 
 
DAY 13 Tuesday 15th January
UYUNI – HUATAJATA, LAKE TITICACA
Today we have the longest drive of the adventure (680k), on our 4WD vehicles up to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake of the world (3,800m). Upon arriving  Huatajata a small village on the lake shores and check-in at the Inca Utama Hotel we will visit before dinner a small museum dedicated to the traditional medicine of South America, with herbs and other natural products. After dinner with live music, experience a second small museum called Alajpacha where you will learn about the prehispanic astronomy. Overnight in the hotel. (B) (D)


 
DAY 14 Wednesday 16th January
HUATAJATA – SUASI ISLAND
Breakfast at the hotel. After visiting a local museum, we will continue with our 4WD vehicles by the beautiful Umasuyu region on the east side of the lake up to Cambria (169k). From here we will take the zodiac boat to Suasi island on the Peruvian side of Lake Titikaka.  This is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Here the concepts of peace, relax, superb scenic beauty, connection with nature, tranquility, meditational space, isolation from the world apply at their best. Enjoy the privileged experience of staying in a private island in the middle of Lake Titikaka plus an excellent quality service.

DAY 15 Thursday 17th January
SUASI ISLAND - CUZCO
After breakfast, transfer by zodiac boat to the shore to continue the trip on our 4WDs to Cuzco (450k), with the beautiful scenery featuring snow-capped mountains, hot springs and picturesque traditional little Andean villages. Rest stop and lunch break on the way. Upon arrival check-in the selected hotel in Cusco.
Here we say goodbye our drivers and assistants who accompanied us all the way up to here. Overnight (B) (L)
 
 
 

 
DAY 16 Friday 18th January
CUSCO AND SURROUNDINGS
Breakfast. Mornig open for rest and relax. In the afternoon we go on a guided Cusco tour featuring the highlights of the city: Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun and the Convent of Santo Domingo, Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and the old town with the stone of the 12 angles,  also we visit the nearby ruins Sacaywaman, Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Return to Cuzco. Overnight in the hotel (B)


 


 
DAY 17 Saturday 19th January
SACRED VALLEY OF THE INKAS
Breakfast. In the morning we go towards the Sacred Valley of the Inkas to visit the Pisac Indian Market and the nearby archaeological site. Rest stop and lunch break. In the afternoon the tour continues to Ollantaytambo village and the local Inka fortress. From here we take the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town). Overnight in the selected hotel. Dinner (B) (L) (D)
 
 

 
DAY 18 Sunday 20th January
MACHUPICCHU
Today after breakfast we visit Machu Picchu. Early transfer with small buses to the archaeological site. 2 hours guided tour. Open time to visit on your own and visit nearby Huayna Picchu. Afternoon return to Cuzco via Ollantaytambo. Overnight in the hotel in Cusco (B)(L)
 
 

DAY 19 Monday 21th January
CUSCO – LIMA – RETURN FLIGHT
After breakfast transfer to the airport for the scheduled flight to Lima and connecting flight home.
 
 

DAY 20 Tuesday 22th January
ARRIVAL
Arrival and individual ride home. End of our services.

Customers will need light, breathable clothing constructed of technical fabrics. Consider to wear three layers.
